
If it is true that "While pre-industrial societies settle in proximity to natural resources and industrial societies develop around factories and transportation systems, postindustrial societies' investments are less place-dependent. Instead of producing farms, coal mines, or cities, postindustrial societies produce highly educated, mobile people and organizations." then is it also true that "the immediate challenge, however, is not to convince people to support community but to confirm what they already know in their hearts: community flourishes best in traditional neighborhoods."?
To say it more simply; should we strive to 'progress' to a historical building typology when that impetuous for that models is no longer active?
