My last post...

I have been racking my brain for days trying to think of a fitting way to pay tribute to the blog as her end is near. What could I possibly say that could condense four years of life into a single homage? I don’t know about the other posters but I can say that the past four years of my life have been difficult but rewarding and I would like to say thanks to my fellow Pegger’s and the readers for putting up with me.

We have wrestled through the hard times, gloried in the good times. Read about the pain and the joy. We have mused the profundities and waxed poetic. We have argued and agreed. We rebuked and encouraged. But mostly we witnessed community. Not community grounded in place, but the fellowship of bothers which needs no place, only willingness.

I know we will all take different things from this blog as she passes into glory and, just like the events she cataloged, those memories will remain with those who called her home.

As this chapter in my life closes I can only thank those who I was privileged enough to be around and learn from. I would like to thank George specifically for putting this thing together and making himself an example of how to be vulnerable and courageous at the same time.

Many have asked me why we are killing the blog and I can only respond that some chapters need to close so that new ones can start. In this case I need to get ready to be a father.

Thank you Peggers,

not to be contentious, and perhaps this is more directed at your wife, but, it is all good and well to announce one's impending parenthood on one's blog to blog readers that one does not otherwise interact with, but it is quite another thing not to let your close friends know before posting. that being said, congratulations! once i get over how completely pissed off i am to have found this out whilst reading matt's blog, i will be really really really excited for y'all! aww, well, i really already am excited, but especially in light of the fact that i called her not two days ago... never mind. congratulations! this is great news. and when can the world expect to meet its newest Auburn fan?

Since I don't count myself as being among your closest friends, I am not pissed of at finding out on the blog. However, I WILL be pissed if this is another one of Matt's ideas of a joke. Just in case....Congratulations! SOO excited for you both!
