Starting to let go

The death of the peg is a little more than 2 weeks away. The priest is on stand by for last rights and we had her baptized last week so we are pretty sure she will be with us in eternity (sorry Abby, I don't make the rules). Other than that we are just doing some house cleaning, getting files in order and making sure the will is up to date (I get the side bar and the links btw).

In a comment not so long ago Abby callously brought up the fact that The Peg is no longer a rallying point for a virtual community and that we should all go our separate ways. While this may be true I can't help but feel a little sad for the change that is about to occur. It is kind of like moving out of a house; you are excited about the future but still have that empty feeling.

So I thought, before we bury The Peg we should do some reflecting (and healing) and what better place to do that then to think back to the beginning.

What where you doing on June 30th, 2004?

Oh, you want me to go first? O.K. Let me think.

June 2004 I was in Birmingham for the summer cutting grass and getting ready for my second year of grad school. I didn't have much of a hand in the early days of the blog. My first post was about how they should give you 10% to use self check-out lines. While I still believe that 100% I find myself using u-scans more and more.

I have to say that of all the 30 years of my life the last 5 have been the most formative and beneficial and I am glad you all were there with me.
