Why are Protestants ok with one icon and not the other
Our age is an age of visual images. By and large Protestants are ok with the one on the left which represents money, sex and entertainment, and don't even recognize the one one on the right which represents devotion to Christ and his Church.
I am not advocating the veneration of icons by Protestants. Bowing, making the sign of the cross, or kissing are too close to acts of worship for us. It's ironic that we don't worship through those means, but we associate them with acts of worship. I am advocating having icons as church art and in our houses and around us to remind us of Christ and the great cloud of witnesses who have gone before us, and are now praying for God's people.
If not icons, what else will combat the onslaught of postmodern images of our culture?
Special apologies to Saint Winnoc for putting his picture next to Britney.

I'm fixated on Miss Spears Belly button. Perhaps St. Winnoc can take a play from Miss Spears playbook.
