rolen traded for glaus

1. Barton/Rasmus cf
2. Ankiel rf
3. Pujols 1b
4. Glaus 3b
5. Duncan/Ludwick lf
6. Molina c
7. Kennedy 2b
8. pitcher
9. Izturis ss

Not so bad...
I suppose Glaus could play the occasional shortstop too...

1. Barton/Rasmus cf
2. Ankiel rf
3. Pujols 1b
4. Glaus ss
5. Duncan/Ludwick lf
6. Spiezio 3b
7. Molina c
8. Kennedy 2b
9. pitcher

A little better, but what about this?

1. Barton/Rasmus cf
2. Ankiel 3b (he's a lefty but his arm will make up for it)
3. Pujols 1b
4. Bonds lf (I can't stand him, but he's the best FA hitter left. I'd like to see what Pujols could do with Bonds batting behind him for a year.)
5. Glaus ss
6. Duncan/Ludwick rf
7. Spiezio/Kennedy 2b
8. Molina/LaRue/Phelps c
9. pitcher

The defense would stink (imagine a Spiezio/Glaus double play) and they might have to change the team name to the St. Louis Performance Enhancing Drug Users, but the offense would rival the '04 team.

Except for the fact that Glaus doesn't play SS anymore, Ankiel has never played the infield and St. Louis will never sign Barry Bonds, that's not a bad lineup.

As good as 04, though? Not even close.

Come on, Josh, its over two months before fantasy baseball starts up, I've got to keep sharp somehow.

You are right about '04. Those were the days.

Yeah, the real SL lineup will be above average only because of Pujols I think, and Glaus will give him a little protection batting behind him.

How about this lineup?

1 - Escobar
2 - Johnson
3 - C. Jones
4 - Texiera
5 - McCann
6 - Francouer
7 - Kotsay
8 - Diaz
9 - Pitcher

I've got to say I feel pretty good about this lineup for the Braves. Even without Hampton healthy (I'm counting on maybe 80 innings), the Rotation looks like this:

1 - Smoltz
2 - Hudson
3 - Glavine
4 - James
5 - Jurrjens/Carlyle/Bennet

And the bully:
Moylan
Acosta
Ohman
Yates
Soriano
Gonzolez (after July)

I'm feeling pretty damn good about this Braves team...

I hate the Braves, but I have to agree they look pretty good. Best Braves team I've seen in years.
